A LOOK AT A TYPICAL STUDENT BEDROOM
SOme comments from our students:
Francisco and Fausto
When I had noticed that I would be a student of EMHS, it was a great new for me and for my parents in Guatemala and for my host family. They were happy and relieved. I was happy too, but a little worried because I didn’t know how will be that new experience or how I would be about the language. The language is something that you will improve and they always will respect you. At the end it was a good experience and I learned a lot of new things that are useful in my life. This experience is something that I don’t regret.
My host family: The people in my host family were very nice. When I had first come here, I had thought that I would get bored because I didn’t have a host brother of almost of my same age. But that wasn’t true, I had a lot of fun times with my little host sisters, and parents such as asking candies for Halloween. Have been there with them was a great experience for me with a new family, new school, new culture, new language, and new friends. - Francisco, Guatemala

Fausto and Fran are getting prepared for winter weather.
Before I came to EMS I was nervous about the whole thing, but I was very excited as well. I had doubts and questions about everything. How would my family be, how would people treat me, how would everything be. But luckily I clicked right away with my family, therefore it wasn’t hard at all for me to fit in right away with them. I found that they were willing to make me a part of their family and make me feel at home. I was lucky to get a host family that was so close to me, as I found that my relationship with them was more as friends rather than father-son, which made me feel closer to them. Overall it’s been a great experience which got me friends not for a moment, but for life.

This Place...
Before I came to the Smeltzer’s house, I had talked with them by email and skype, I was so excited to meet them.
By October 15th I had already arrived at their home.
It has been one of the most wonderful times of my life, starting with my host mother’s delicious food, my host father’s moments of confusion and of course my sister’s jokes.Claire, my sister had also became such a good friend to me and I love to spend time with her.
But the most significant thing for me was finding a place full of smiles, consciousness for the planet, a silly cat and a funny dog, a place where I have found amazing persons that helped me to call this place home, my second home.
